The great game of soccer is constantly evolving and here at the Florida Youth Soccer Association Coaching Education is one of the most important programs that we offer so that we continue to stay at the vanguard of coaching and player development. In 2018, FYSA conducted 41 Grassroots License Courses, 7 D-License Courses and 2 C-License Courses.
2019 has already started strong as we look to offer more courses than ever before and already we have 3 C-License Courses scheduled, and working on 12 or more D-License Courses across the state.
We also want to piece together a fantastic schedule of Grassroots Coaching License Courses as well. These courses are easily accessible to all and a great way to help develop all of you coaches, whether they are volunteers or professional coaching staff. These courses are based on U.S. Soccer’s new Play-Practice-Play Methodology and a great way to help insure the continued development of all players here in Florida. The in-person courses are 4 hours in duration, and thus can be held on a single weeknight, back-to-back weeknights, or on a weekend to best suit the needs of the club.
Our goal by the end of 2020 is to double the number of courses we hosted in 2018, and as you can see, we are well on our way to achieving that goal. We are working very closely with U.S. Soccer in order to achieve this, and should have close to 30 Instructors with the new U.S. Soccer Grassroots Instructor License by the end of this year. The best way to impact the over 110,000 FYSA players is to reach out and assist our member clubs in their own coaches development from the Grassroots level on up.
